Bears bounce back from first loss
Since suffering a 34-31 loss at home to Oklahoma, Baylor has bounced back with double-digit wins over Texas and Kansas over the last two weeks. The Bears are 11-1 on the season, 8-1 in the Big 12, 8-4 against the spread and 6-6 with the over/under total.
The Bears have been a pretty balanced team this season, as the defense is allowing just 18.4 points and 352.8 yards per game, while the offense is putting up 36.2 points and 445.1 yards per game. Charlie Brewer is leading the offense with 2,935 passing yards and 20 touchdowns while rushing for 340 yards and 10 scores. John Lovett and JaMycal Hasty each have about 600 rushing yards while combining for 12 touchdowns. Denzel Mims is the leading receiver with 61 catches for 945 yards and 11 scores. James Lynch is leading the defense with 34 tackles and 10.5 sacks.
Sooners still with playoff hopes
Oklahoma still has hopes for another playoff appearance with a win and some help. The Sooners have won four straight coming into this game, including a 34-16 win at Oklahoma State last weekend. Oklahoma is 11-1 on the season, 8-1 in the Big 12, 5-7 against the spread and 6-5-1 with the under.
The Sooners remain the highest-scoring producing offense in the nation with 564.3 yards per game. That has led to a 44.3-point per game average. Defensively, Oklahoma is allowing 24.7 points and 336.8 yards per game. Jalen Hurts has had a great season under center. He has thrown for 3,347 yards and 31 touchdowns while also rushing for 1,217 yards and 18 touchdowns. Kennedy Brooks has added 917 rushing yards with four scores while CeeDee Lamb is the leading receiver with 50 catches for 1,035 yards and 14 touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Baylor
The Bears are 7-2 with the under in their last nine games in December, but 11-4 with the over in their last 15 on a neutral field.
Oklahoma
The Sooners are 17-3-1 with the under in their last 21 games in December and 10-3 with the under in their last 13 games on a neutral field.
Prediction:
Along with the win earlier this year, Oklahoma has won the last five in this series and these two have hit the over in three of their last five meetings. Baylor actually held a 28-3 lead over Oklahoma in the first half of their meeting a few weeks back, but allowed Oklahoma to rally in the second half while the Sooners held the Bears scoreless. The Bears just couldn’t slow down Oklahoma once the Sooners got rolling. Oklahoma put up 525 yards in the game and that should give them a lot of confidence for this game. Baylor should also be able to dial up some adjustments that allow them to get back to the success it had in the first half with the ball. Oklahoma knows it needs a statement if it wants to get in the playoff, so I think we are going to see a lot of points one way or another in this one.
Big 12 Championship Prediction: Baylor/Oklahoma Over 64.5
