Auburn Tigers Game Notes
Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin said the team is undecided on a starting QB against LSU after Bo Nix was benched against Georgia Southern. This might be a bit of coach speak considering T.J. Finley’s heroics against Georgia Southern. Normal starter Bo Nix was benched after a poor performance through three quarters that saw Southern take a 24-12 lead. Finley replaced him and led Auburn to an unlikely win, using an impressive 98-yard drive to take the lead with less than a minute left in the game. It will be shocking to not see Finley start against LSU considering Finley was the far superior player Saturday, but Nix has been the guy since 2019.
LSU Tigers Game Notes
LSU redshirt freshman QB Max Johnson completed 17-of-27 for 280 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception in a 28-25 road win over Mississippi State on Saturday. Johnson (6’5/219) now has nine touchdowns over his last two games. He and the Tigers wide receivers have really hit their stride. After a really tough 2020 season, Johnson has stepped up big time with a 5:1 touchdown:interception ratio. Next Saturday, LSU takes on Auburn who are struggling against Georgia State.
