Auburn Tigers Game Notes
Auburn sophomore QB Bo Nix completed just 18-of-35 passes for 217 yards with an interception in a 34-10 loss on Saturday to Georgia. After a solid effort against LSU, Nix (6’3/214) was not up for the task against a much tougher defense in the Bulldogs. To be fair to Nix, there won’t be a tougher defensive test all year, and yes, that includes Alabama. Still, the accuracy just wasn’t there, and the Georgia front gave him trouble all afternoon. Nix is a frustrating quarterback to watch, as the flashes of brilliance often are followed by fits of borderline incompetence. Auburn falls to 4-2, and they will take on Arkansas next Saturday.
Arkansas Razorbacks Game Notes
Arkansas redshirt sophomore QB KJ Jefferson completed 25-of-35 passes for 326 yards and three touchdowns in addition to rushing 20 times for 85 yards and another three touchdowns in a heartbreaking 52-51 loss to Ole Miss. Jefferson (6’3/240) did everything you can ask of him, and much more as the dual-threat QB put Arkansas in position to win after hitting Warren Thompson with a nine-yard touchdown pass in the back of the end zone with no time remaining on the clock. Instead of kicking the extra point and sending the game into overtime, HC Sam Pittman chose to go for the win and attempt a two-point conversion. Unfortunately, Ole Miss was all over the pass play the Razorbacks drew up and snuffed out the attempt to pull out the dramatic victory. They will try to bounce back next Saturday against Auburn.
Auburn vs. Arkansas Week 7 Betting Prediction
The Tigers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games versus the Razorbacks, are 5-1 against the number in their last six games coming off a double-digit loss at home and are 5-2 at the betting window in their last seven games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
