Arkansas State Red Wolves Game Notes
Arkansas State redshirt junior QB Logan Bonner completed 18-of-28 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns in Thursday night’s 59-52 win over Georgia State. Both Arkansas State QBs threw exactly 28 passes. While Bonner performed the “worse” of the two, Bonner’s 73.6 QBR was still a tick higher than Georgia State’s QB put up. So Arkansas State had two full-time-ish performances better than Georgia State’s lone QB, who still played quite well. Bonner (6’1/220) has now thrown for three touchdowns in two games in a row, though his yardage production was much less impressive this week. If both QBs are going to continue playing like this and flip-flopping who plays better in a given week, there does not seem to be an end in sight for this two-QB system.
Appalachian State Mountaineers Game Notes
Appalachian State redshirt senior RB Marcus Williams is listed atop the team’s latest depth chart. Williams (5’10/205) had started the team’s opening game when he rushed 14 times for 117 yards and a score in a 35-20 win over Charlotte. However he hasn’t played since due to pandemic related issues, as the team has had to reschedule two games already. The situation appears to be a straight up committee as Camerun Peoples and Daetrich Harrington were also listed as co-starters. It will be interesting to see how the carries are distributed when the Mountaineers welcome Arkansas State to town Thursday night for what should be a barrage of points form both teams.
Arkansas State vs. Appalachian State Betting Prediction
The Mountaineers are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games as a home favorite, they’re 3-7 against the number in their last 10 games played in the month of October and are winless against the spread in their last four games overall. On the other side, the Red Wolves covered in five of their last six games, are 20-8 against the number in their last 28 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous contest and cashed in 11 of their last 16 games played in the month of October.
