Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Crimson Tide are 35-point favorites to beat the Razorbacks. The total, meanwhile, sits at 57.5 points. As of this writing, 66% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Crimson Tide.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama HC Nick Saban said that he was “disappointed” in the student turnout at last Saturday’s 56-14 win over Louisiana-Lafayette. “I think we’re trying to address that. I don’t think they’re entitled to anything, either,” Saban said, then really laying in. “Me personally, I think it ought to be first-come, first-serve. If they don’t want to come to the game, they don’t have to come.” Yikes, Crimson Tide fans. They had better show up for Alabama’s next home blowout, which figures to come when the defending champs return to Tuscaloosa to face off with Missouri after this weekend’s road date with Arkansas.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Arkansas HC Chad Morris confirmed that junior RB Devwah Whaley (concussion) is doubtful to play against Alabama on Saturday. Morris said Whaley still hasn’t cleared the concussion protocol. Whaley, who leads the Razorbacks with 231 yards rushing, didn’t practice this week. The 5-foot-11, 209-pounder will almost assuredly sit out against the Crimson Tide. Rakeem Boyd will likely start in his place.
Betting Trends
Alabama
The Crimson Tide has covered the point spread in 14 of their last 20 road games.
Arkansas
The Razorbacks are just 2-7-2 at the betting window in their last 11 home games.
Prediction
Bettors might avoid taking ‘Bama today because Saban’s squad failed to cover the spread in each of its last two games. That said, keep in mind that the Tide squared off against two opponents that were coached by Saban’s former assistants. Arkansas is not, and has already lost to Colorado State and North Texas this season. The Razorbacks might be fired up for a half but they’ll fade.
