ASU grinds out a win
Arizona State is coming off a 38-34 win at home over Washington State last weekend to pick up back-to-back wins. The Sun Devils are 5-1 on the year, 2-1 in the Pac-12, 3-3 against the spread and 4-2 with the under.
ASU has been about defense this year, allowing just 17.7 points and 354.5 yards per game. Offensively, the Sun Devils are producing 25.3 points and 402.7 yards per contest. Quarterback Jayden Daniels is leading the ASU offense with 1,610 passing yards and eight touchdowns while also rushing for 198 yards and two scores. Eno Benjamin has rushed for 529 yards and seven scores while Brandon Aiyuk has caught 31 passes for 651 yards and five touchdowns.
Utes back on track
Utah suffered a 30-23 loss at USC a month ago, but the Utes have won back-to-back games since then, including a 52-7 win at Oregon State last weekend. Utah is 5-1 on the year, 2-1 in the Pac-12, 3-3 against the spread and 5-1 with the under.
Like ASU, Utah is also reliant on its defense. The Utes are giving up just 13.2 points and 271.5 yards per game this season. The Utah offense is putting up 34.8 points and 467.3 yards per game. Tyler Huntley is leading the offense with 1,393 passing yards and nine touchdowns while also rushing for 197 yards and three scores. Zack Moss is the team’s leading rusher with 514 yards and six scores while Bryan Thompson has 11 catches for 310 yards and two touchdowns. The defense is led by Devin Lloyd, who has 42 tackles with three sacks and an interception.
College Football Betting Trends
Arizona State
The Sun Devils are 4-1 with the under in their last five road games and in five of their last seven games overall.
Utah
Utah has hit the under in five straight conference games and in four of their last five following a win.
Prediction:
These two have actually hit the over in three of their last four meetings. Despite the two being defensive-minded teams, the total is set very low. Utah has the weapons to be explosive on offense while ASU has managed to put up 24 points on a good Cal defense. I think both teams are likely to have some stops during the game, but I don’t expect this to be a 13-10 grind. Each team has some playmakers and will find some holes to exploit in the defenses. I think they are able to do enough to get over the total.
