Alabama redshirt freshman QB Bryce Young moves down to the second-best odds to win the Heisman trophy according to PointsBet. And it was down to two. Young had a monster game by throwing for an Alabama record 559 yards and five touchdowns in their 42-35 win over Arkansas. With this performance, he made a slight jump in the odds from +165 to +150. Unfortunately, he was knocked out of the No. 1 spot. Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud had a big performance himself with 432 passing yards and six touchdowns in the 56-7 blowout of Michigan State. With that move, he became the favorite to win the award at -200. After this weekend, the Heisman Trophy race has become a two-man competition, with the closest competitor to them being Matt Corral at +2000. There’s still some time for Young to move back in as the favorite as he has one more regular-season game and the SEC title game. If Young can deliver a good performance against a dominating Georgia defense, it could be a massive boost for him. For now, he will get ready to face Auburn in the Iron Bowl.
Auburn Tigers Game Notes
Auburn redshirt sophomore QB T.J. Finley completed 17-of-32 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown in a 21-17 loss to South Carolina on Saturday night. Finley (6’7/246) started off hot against the Gamecocks defense. After a punt on the first drive, Finley led the Tigers to back-to-back touchdown drives, including a crisp 10-yard touchdown pass to Demetris Robinson. After the first quarter, Finley settled in but was mostly ineffective the rest of the way. The Tigers leaned on Tank Bigsby, but Finley wasn’t able to make the necessary plays to convert when they needed it late. The final drive started with a nice 28-yard dig route to Robinson but he missed his next two throws with the drive ending in a punt. He will look to rebound next week in the Iron Bowl against Alabama.
Alabama vs. Auburn Betting Prediction
The Crimson Tide is just 2-6 against the spread in its last eight games at Auburn, while the home team has cashed in four straight meetings between these two teams. Alabama is also just 2-5 against the spread in its last seven games after scoring more than 40 points in its previous contest and is 1-4 at the betting window in its last five road games when facing an opponent with a winning home record. On the other side, the Tigers have covered in five of their last six games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous contest.
