Week 1: Alabama Favored to Win Title
Heading into Week 1 of the college football season, the Alabama Crimson Tide remain the favorites to win this year’s national title.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Tide are 9/4 favorites to win the 2018 College Football National Championship Game. The Ohio State Buckeyes have the next-best odds at 4/1, followed by the USC Trojans at 15/2. Florida State at 8/1 and Auburn at 18/1 round out the top 5.

Alabama, as it often does, opens with a marquee opponent at a neutral site. This year’s opponent is Florida State, whom the Crimson Tide will face this Saturday night at 8:00PM ET on ABC. After taking on Fresno State and Colorado State the following weeks, ‘Bama opens SEC play with a visit to Vanderbilt on September 23. The Crimson Tide will also host Tennessee and LSU this year and travel to Auburn for the Iron Bowl.

Continuing with the odds, the LSU Tigers are 20/1 to win the national championship this upcoming season, as are the Michigan Wolverines, Penn State Nittany Lions and Wisconsin Badgers. Georgia, meanwhile, is 22/1, as are the Washington Huskies, who lost to Alabama in the semi-finals round of the playoffs last season. Clemson, the defending national champion, is 28/1 to repeat this season, as is Louisville, which will bring back Heisman winner Lamar Jackson at quarterback.
Other long shots include Texas at 30/1, Oklahoma State at 40/1, and both Florida and Notre Dame, who are 45/1, respectively. Miami and Stanford are 55/1, respectively, while Virginia Tech is 65/1. UCLA, with Josh Rosen at quarterback, is 80/1 to win it all this season.
