Aggies outlast Arkansas
Texas A&M is coming off a scare against Arkansas two weeks ago in Arlington, picking up a 31-27 victory. A&M has two losses this year to Auburn and Clemson. They sit at 3-2 on the season, 1-1 in the SEC, 3-2 against the spread and 3-2 with the under.
The Aggies have been respectable on both sides of the ball. The defense is the stronger unit, as it has allowed just 17.8 points and 300.4 yards per game this season. Offensively, A&M is putting up 32.8 points and 426.4 yards per game. Quarterback Kellen Mond has thrown for 1,333 yards and 10 touchdowns to lead the offense while also rushing for 110 yards and two scores. Isaiah Spiller is the team’s leading rusher with 255 yards and three touchdowns while Jhamon Ausborn has 32 receptions for 446 yards and two touchdowns.
Alabama keeping its foot on the gas
Alabama continues to cruise through the season, as the Tide are coming off a 59-31 win over Ole Miss at home two weeks ago. Bama comes into this game 5-0 overall, 2-0 in the SEC, 2-3 against the spread and 3-2 with the over.
Alabama has a solid defense that is giving up 14.8 points and 325.6 yards per game. Those numbers are actually a little worse than usual for the Tide. Offensively, Alabama is third nationally in production. The Tide are averaging 51.8 points and 555 yards per game. Tua Tagovailoa is leading the team with 1,718 passing yards and 23 touchdowns without an interception. Najee Harris is the leading rusher with 337 yards and a score while Devonta Smith is the leading receiver with 31 catches for 537 yards and eight touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Texas A&M
The Aggies are 11-3 against the spread in their last 14 home games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 following a win.
Alabama
Alabama is just 2-6 against the spread in its last eight games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last seven following a win.
Prediction:
Alabama has won the last six meetings with the Aggies, but A&M has covered the spread in the last two encounters. The last trip to A&M was just a 27-19 win for Alabama. The A&M defense has been pretty solid and held Clemson to just 24 points in South Carolina a few weeks ago. Despite that, Alabama has had two weeks to prepare for this game and Nick Saban can preach to his players on their questionable history with A&M. He can point to Clemson’s result and use it as motivation for his guys to be better. When Bama is at its best, I still feel like they can’t be stopped by anyone not named Clemson. I expect a motivated Bama team to make a statement today.
