According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Oregon is favored to win the North, as it has 1/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Stanford (13/4) and Washington (6/1).
Oregon last won the division title in its inaugural year of 2011. The Ducks were 11-2 last season and 7-2 in the Pac-12. Oregon has 13 starters back this season, with eight on its high-powered offense. Marcus Mariota is a top Heisman candidate after throwing for 3,665 yards and 31 touchdowns.
Stanford is the two-time defending division and Pac-12 Conference champion. The Cardinal went 11-3 last season and 7-2 in the Pac-12. Stanford has 11 starters back this season, with seven coming on its powerful defense that was ranked No. 1 in the conference in most stats in 2013. Kevin Hogan will lead the offense. He threw for 2,630 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Washington has never won the division title in the Pac-12. The Huskies were 9-4 last season and 5-4 in the Pac-12. Washington is bringing in Chris Petersen from Boise State in hopes of making the Huskies a power. Washington has 14 starters back on offense this year, but will be breaking in a new quarterback and running back.
