The Volunteers will look to win their 20th consecutive home opener tonight at Neyland Stadium. According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Tennessee opened as a 7-point favorite but the spread has been bet down to 5. The total, meanwhile, opened at 49 and has been bet up to 51.5.
The Volunteers only have 10 returning starters from a year ago but Butch Jones and his coaching staff put together one of the better recruiting classes in college football this past year. Despite recruiting well, Tennessee faces concerns about not returning any starter to either the offensive or defensive line.
The Aggies, meanwhile, return 11 of 22 starters, which includes a sleeper Heisman Trophy candidate in quarterback Chuckie Keeton. Also returning for Utah State are stout defenders Zach Virgil, B.J. Larsen and Kyler Fackrell to a defense that held five of its last seven opponents to 14 points or less last season.
