FAU vs. Nebraska Odds
LINCOLN, NE (The Spread) – No. 22 Nebraska looks to start the season off right when it plays host to Florida Atlantic at 3:30PM ET on the Big Ten Network.

Nebraska is coming off a 9-4 record in 2013. Coach Bo Pelini was under fire, but was retained by the team. Florida Atlantic went 6-6 overall in 2013 and 4-4 in Conference USA. These two last met in 2009 when Nebraska picked up a 49-3 victory.
Trends show that Nebraska is just 1-4 against the spread in their last 5 games on fieldturf while FAU is 12-1 ATS in its last 13 road games. FAU has also hit the under in its last four games against Big Ten opponents.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Nebraska is the clear favorite to win, as the Cornhuskers have odds of -23 points against FAU. The over/under total has been set at 51 points (View Matchup). The opening odds for this game had Nebraska as a 25-point favorite, but the spread quickly fell and hit a low of 22.5 points before closing at 23 points. The over/under total opened at 51 points and hasn’t changed since.
Nebraska returns just eight starters this year, which means the team will have to rely on its few veterans. Leading that charge will be running back Ameer Abdullah, who rushed for 1,690 yards and nine touchdowns a year ago. Tommy Armstrong saw some time at quarterback last year and now will take over the position as starter, but the Huskers have to replace four starters on the offensive line, including both tackles. Defensively, Nebraska allowed 24.8 points and 370.8 yards per game a year ago and have just five starters back. Randy Gregory, a junior defensive end had 10.5 sacks in 2013 and he will be looked at to lead the group.
Florida Atlantic is hoping to get over .500 this year and a win on Saturday would go a long way to do that. The Owls have 10 starters back from 2013, five on each side of the ball. Offensively, FAU has quarterback Jaquez Johnson set to lead the unit. He rushed for 772 yards and 10 scores in 2013 while throwing for 1,876 yards and 12 touchdowns. FAU has three starters back on the offensive line, but may be switching up some things in hopes of improving a lackluster run game. Defensively, FAU gave up just 22.3 points and 325.9 yards per game last season. The group returns the middle of its defensive line, including Brandin Bryant, who had six sacks in 2013. Also back is cornerback D’Joun Smith, who had seven interceptions last season.

In terms of Injuries, FAU has no injuries to report while Nebraska offensive lineman Zach Sterup is questionable for the game while running back Adam Taylor (ankle) and defensive back Charles Jackson (knee) are both out indefinitely.
The Public Bets are currently backing Nebraska, as the Cornhuskers have 78% of the wagers with odds of -23 points against Florida Atlantic on Saturday.
