According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Crimson Tide are currently 26-point favorites over West Virginia, while the over/under total for today’s game is sitting at 54 points. There hasn’t been a ton of line movement in this game, although Alabama did open as a 25-point favorite and the total was once as high as 57.

The Crimson Tide enter play as the No. 2 overall team in the country behind Florida State. The good news is that T.J. Yeldon, Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake return to form one of the deeper backfields in college football. The questionable news is at quarterback, where Jacob Coker and Blake Sims have been battling all spring and summer for the starting spot. While Sims will start today, who knows how long his leash will be under Saban.

On the other side, West Virginia has a nice combo at running back in Dreamius Smith and Wendell Smallwood, as well as a solid offensive line that returns starters along the interior. The secondary could also be a strength led by Daryl Worley and Karl Joseph, although just Alabama there’s questions at quarterback. Paul Millard, Ford Childress and Clint Trickett all saw time under center last year and while the senior Trickett will start, again, this is a position that still has plenty of unanswered questions heading into the regular season.
