South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt Free Pick
NASHVILLE, TN (The Spread) – Fresh off its biggest win of the young season, No. 14 South Carolina will look to avoid a letdown tonight when it visits Vanderbilt at 7:30PM ET.

South Carolina bounced back from its season-opening loss to Texas A&M by beating East Carolina 33-23 on September 6 and Georgia 38-35 in a wild game last Saturday. Quarterback Dylan Thompson completed 21-of-30 passes for 271 yards and a three touchdowns in the win, while Brandon Wilds rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
Vanderbilt has been a disaster this season but did manage to hang onto a 34-31 win over Massachusetts for its first win last Saturday. Quarterback Patton Robinette completed 15-of-21 passes for just 147 yards while Ralph Webb rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. The Commodores have yet to cover the spread in three tries this season.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, South Carolina is a 21.5-point favorite over Vanderbilt while the over/under total is currently sitting at 52.5 points. The Gamecocks opened as 20.5-point favorites before the line moved up, while the total opened at 57.5 before being bet down.

According to latest college football trends, the Gamecocks are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games versus a losing team and 1-4 ATS in their last five games in September dating back to last year. The Commodores, meanwhile, are 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 games following an ATS loss, 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games following a straight up win and 5-1 ATS in their last six games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
