Sugar Bowl Public Betting Report
NEW ORLEANS, LA (TheSpread) – The off-the-field distractions with the Ohio State football program has the public shying away from them for the 2011 Sugar Bowl.
Ohio State is 11-1 on the season and 9-2-1 against the point spread while Arkansas is 10-2 on the season and 9-2 ATS. Both teams contended for their respective conference titles but received BCS at-large bids.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have given Ohio State point spread odds of -3 against Arkansas on Tuesday night. The over/under total has been set at 57 points. (View Matchup)
Public betting shows that 62% of the wagers placed on this game have been put on the Razorbacks with odds of +3 against Ohio State. Over 69,000 public bets have been placed on this game.
A number of factors probably play into this statistic. The first is how the Big Ten has yet to win a bowl game since the start of the new year, including a pair of big losses to the SEC. Also, the suspension of five players for next season has many wondering where the mindset is of the stars of the team and if they are truly focused on the Buckeyes.
