TAMPA, FL (TheSpread) – Urban Meyer coaches his final game for the Florida Gators on Saturday as they take on the Penn State Nittany Lions in the 2011 Outback Bowl.
Florida is 7-5 on the season and 6-6 against the point spread odds while Penn State is 7-5 overall and 5-6 against the spread. Trends show that Penn State is 2-6 against the point spread odds in their last 8 non-conference games while Florida is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games at a neutral site.

Opening odds had Florida favored by 7 points and the spread moved to 7.5 for a short time before settling back at 7. The over/under total opened at 47 points and has since moved up to 48 points.
Florida went 7-5 this season and didn’t defeat a ranked opponent. Adding to the problems was two-time national champion winning coach Urban Meyer decided to retire from the Gators following the bowl game. Will Muschamp will take over the team following the bowl game. On the season, Florida is averaging 29.3 points and 356.8 yards per game on offense while the defense is giving up 21.1 points and 302.9 yards per game. The Gators have been led on the year by John Brantley who has thrown for 2,020 yards and nine touchdown with nine interceptions.
As Meyer is retiring, Joe Paterno has already committed to coaching another season despite being 84-years-old. Penn State lost two of their last three games to end the year and all but one of their losses came against ranked opponents. The Nittany Lions average 24.6 points and 374.1 yards per game on offense while the defense gives up just 22.6 points and 352.5 yards per game. Evan Royster has led the offense with 891 rushing yard and six touchdowns.
In terms of injuries, Florida defensive tackle Terron Sanders is not expected to play for undisclosed reasons while Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti is probable with a shoulder injury.
