Orange Bowl Public Betting Report
MIAMI, FL (TheSpread) – The public isn’t a big fan of the ACC as a football conference and that shows in their betting behavior for the 2011 Orange Bowl.
The Orange bowl features ACC Champion Virginia Tech taking on Pac-10 runner-up, Stanford. Stanford is 11-1 on the season and 7-4 against the point spread odds while Virginia Tech is 11-2 on the season and 10-3 against the spread.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have given Stanford point spread odds of -3.5 against Virginia Tech on Monday. The over/under total has been set at 58.5. (View Matchup)
Public betting shows that 70% of the wagers for this game are going on the Cardinal as a 3.5-point favorite against the Hokies on Monday night. An impressive total of over 61,500 bets have been placed on this game.
Many feel that Stanford is far superior to Virginia Tech this season as the Cardinal played in a more-respected conference. Certainly a loss to James Madison didn’t help, but the Hokies do hold three wins over ranked opponents on the year while Stanford has just one win over a ranked opponent, and that was Arizona, which finished the year at 7-6.
