MIAMI, FL (TheSpread) – Many expect Jim Harbaugh is coaching his final game for No. 5 Stanford Monday night as the Cardinal takes on Virginia Tech in the 2011 Orange Bowl.

Stanford is 11-1 on the season and 7-4 against the point spread odds while Virginia Tech is 11-2 on the season and 10-3 against the point spread odds. Trends show Virginia Tech is 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 non-conference games while Stanford is also 4-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games.

Opening odds had Stanford as a 3-point favorite against Virginia Tech. The spread has since added the hook to get to 3.5 points. The over/under total opened at 58 points and went from 58.5 to 57.5 before closing at 58.5.

Stanford’s only loss this season came against Oregon, 52-31. The Cardinal has dominated most other opponents, averaging 40.3 points per game on offense while allowing just 17.8 points per game on defense. The Cardinal have a balanced offensive attack, led by NFL prospect Andrew Luck at quarterback, who has thrown for 3,051 yards and 28 touchdowns with 7 interceptions while Stepfan Taylor rushed for 1,023 yards and 15 scores.

Virginia Tech started the year 0-2 but has since won 11-straight games, including the ACC Championship over Florida State. The Hokies have won all but one game by 11 points this year. The Hokies average 411.1 yards and 35.5 points per game on offense while the defense is giving up 19.1 points and 348.2 yards per game. Virginia Tech averages over 200 rushing yards per game, led by Darren Evans, who has 788 rushing yards and 11 scores. Three others have at least 400 rushing yards on the season.

In terms of injuries, Virginia Tech linebacker Barquell Rivers is questionable with a quad injury while tackle Laurence Gibson is out with a shoulder injury. Stanford receiver Chris Owusu is questionable for the game with an undisclosed injury.
