According to oddsmakers from Bodog, Nebraska is a 2/5 favorite to win the Legends Division of the Big Ten this season. Other shorts odds to win are Iowa (3/1) and Michigan State (7/2).
The Cornhuskers are playing in the Big Ten for the first time this season. Nebraska won the Big 12 North Division last year with a 10-4 record overall and a 6-3 conference record. Nebraska is in its fourth season under Bo Pelini, who has guided Nebraska to at least 9 wins in each of his three previous years. Nebraska has 12 starters back in 2011.
Iowa has been strong the last three seasons, winning at least eight games. Iowa was 8-5 overall in 2010 with a 4-4 conference record. The Hawkeyes are led by coach Kirk Ferentz, who is in his 13th season with Iowa. Ferentz has just 10 starters back from the 2010 squad.
Michigan State won a share of the Big Ten title last season, as it went 11-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play. The Spartans are coached by Mark Dantonio, who is in his fifth season with MSU. 13 starters are back for the Spartans, including running back Edwin Baker, who rushed for 1,201 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2010.
