Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have given Auburn point spread odds of -1 against Oregon on Monday night. The over/under total has been set at 72.5 points. (View Matchup)
Newton does it all for the Auburn offense and for tonightβs game, oddsmakers have given him over/under odds of 91.5 for total rushing yards in the game. Newton has run for 1,409 yards and 20 scores this season. He averages 5.8 yards per carry and 108.38 yards per game on the ground. Newton has run for at least 92 yards in six games this season. Oregon gives up just 117.6 rushing yards per game, but they also force teams to have to play catch up often.
In terms of Newtonβs passing the over/under for his longest completion of the game has been set at 42.5 yards. Newton averages over 10 yards per pass attempt and 15.69 yards per completion. He has completed at least one pass of 43 yards in six games. He had a pass of at least 62 yards in three of his last four games and his passing numbers improved toward the end of the regular season. If Oregon has a defensive weakness, it would be its secondary, which allows 214 yards per game through the air.
For team prop odds, Auburn has been given over/under odds of 37.5 points for the national title game. The Tigers average 42.7 points per game on offense while Oregon allows just 18.4 points per game on defense. Auburn has scored at least 38 points in 7 of 13 games. The Tigers have averaged 41.6 points on offense in five games against ranked opponents this season. I think Auburn has seen tougher defenses than what Oregon brings to the table, but the Ducks are going to have to keep the scoring going to force Auburn to push for 40 points.
