HOUSTON, TX (TheSpread) – The Baylor Bears hope to cap off a positive season with a win over Illinois in the 2010 Texas Bowl on Wednesday from Houston.
Baylor is 7-5 on the year and 5-6 against the point spread odds while Illinois is 6-6 on the year and 8-4 against the spread. The two teams have each went over the point total in 7 of 11 lined games. Trends show that Illinois is 3-13 against the point spread odds in their last 16 non-conference games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 against the Big 12.

Opening odds had Baylor favored by 1 point. The spread then moved up to 2 points before falling back to 1. The over/under total opened at 61.5 points but has since added a point.
Baylor was in line for a big season, but dropped their last three games, all to ranked teams. Four of their five losses this season came against ranked opponents. On the year, Baylor is averaging 32.6 points per game on offense but allowing 29.8 points per game on defense. The Bears have a strong rushing attack, which averages 200.5 yards per game. Leading the way is Jay Finley, who has rushed for 1,155 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Illinois lost three of their last four games to end the regular season. The Illini are averaging 32.1 points per game on offense while giving up 24.3 points per game on defense. On offense, Illinois is averaging 242.3 rushing yards per game as they utilize dual-threat quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase, who has thrown for 1,583 yards and 17 touchdowns while rushing for 660 yards and four scores. Mikel LeShoure has led the team with 1,467 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
In terms of injuries, Illinois linebacker Ian Thomas is doubtful for the game with a leg injury while Baylor tight end Willie Jefferson will not play for personal reasons.
Over 30,500 public bets have been placed on this game with Baylor getting 74% of the wagers with point spread odds of -1 against Illinois.
