LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Despite being an early bowl on the schedule, the MAACO Bowl should be exciting as it features No. 10 Boise State taking on No. 20 Utah at 8PM ET.

Boise State is 11-1 on the season and 8-4 against the spread this season. Utah is 10-2 on the year and 7-4-1 against the point spread odds. Trends show that Boise State is 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 against the Mountain West Conference while Utah is just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have made Boise State a 16.5-point favorite against Utah on Wednesday. The over/under total has been set at 57. (View Matchup)

Opening odds had Boise State favored by 16.5 points and the spread climbed up to 17 before dropping back to the opening mark. The over/under total opened at 61 points but has quickly fallen back over the last few weeks and is now down to 57 points.

Boise State was a 3-point loss in overtime away from having another perfect regular season. The Broncos lost to Nevada on Nov. 26 to spoil their season, but still went 11-1 and shared the WAC title. On the year, the Broncos are averaging 46.7 points per game, which is second in the nation. The defense is just as solid, as they allow just 13.6 points per game, which ranks fourth in the country. Kellen Moore has led the team and was a Heisman finalist with 3,506 yards passing with 33 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions.

Utah had a solid season, but a 47-7 loss to TCU at home and a 28-3 loss to Notre Dame at home turned the season into a bit of a disappointment. The Utes don’t really have a marquee win on their schedule this year, which is why the point spread odds are so high for this game. On the year, Utah is averaging 35.6 points per game on offense while allowing just 19.8 points per game on defense. Quarterback Jordan Wynn has thrown for 2,334 yards and 17 touchdowns on the season to lead the team, but an injured shoulder may keep him out of the game.

In terms of injuries, Wynn is listed as doubtful to play and if he can’t go, Terrance Cain will fill in. Cain has thrown for 610 yards and 6 touchdowns this season. Boise State tight end Tommy Gallarda is doubtful for Wednesday’s game because of a foot injury.

Over 47,100 public bets have been placed on this game with Boise State getting 74% of the wagers with point spread odds of -16.5 against Utah.
