Auburn Tigers Game Notes

Auburn sophomore QB Bo Nix completed 17-of-28 passes for 187 yards with a touchdown and ran for 30 yards with a score in a 30-28 win on Saturday over Arkansas. This looked like it was going to be a blowout. Nix scooted in from 15-yards out in the second quarter, and it gave the Tigers a 17-0 lead in the middle of the second. After that, Arkansas was the better team -- by a considerable margin -- but a field goal by Anders Carlson with just seven seconds left gave the Tigers a 30-28 lead and avoided a borderline embarrassing loss. The 6-foot-2, 213-pound quarterback has been shaky in these first three games, and against a better club -- again, all due respect to the Razorbacks -- this would have been a loss. Nix and the Tigers will take on South Carolina on Saturday.

South Carolina Gamecocks Game Notes

South Carolina redshirt senior QB Collin Hill completed 16-of-24 passes for 196 yards and two rushing touchdowns in a 41-7 victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday. Hill (6'5/214) navigated the wet and rainy conditions adequately enough to lead SC to a comfortable first win of the season. Though he was efficient in his passing efforts by completing 68% of his short-to-mid-range passes and leaning on a strong run game to grind down the Vanderbilt front seven. Hill's best moment came on a broken play where he stepped up in the pocket in the face of a five-man rush and scampered for a 10-yard touchdown. The Gamecocks will try to pick up their second win when they host Auburn next Saturday.

Auburn vs. South Carolina Betting Prediction

The Tigers have covered the spread in 11 of their last 15 games when listed as a favorite, are 11-5 against the number in their last 16 games overall and are 9-4 at the betting window in their last 13 games when favored on the road. On the other side, the Gamecocks are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games when facing an opponent with a winning record, are 1-3-1 against the number in their last five games as an underdog and are 2-9-1 ATS in their last 12 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game.
