VCU vs. Dayton Prediction
Will VCU be able to pick up a small upset on the road when the Rams take on Dayton tonight at 7PM ET on ESPN2.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Dayton is the slight favorite in this game, as the Flyers are getting odds of -2.5 points against VCU. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 146.5 points. Tonight’s game takes place from University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio and will air live on ESPN2.
VCU has won two straight and six of its last seven coming into tonight’s game. The Rams are 11-6 overall, 3-1 in the Atlantic-10 Conference and 7-6 against the spread. VCU has covered in three of its last four games. The Rams are putting up 78.1 points per game this season while allowing 73.8 per contest. Justin Tillman is leading VCU with 17.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. De’Riante Jenkins is adding 13.5 points per contest.
Dayton is coming off an 87-81 win at Richmond, but the Flyers have alternated wins and losses in their last nine games. Dayton is now 8-8 overall and 2-2 in the A-10. The Flyers are also 7-9 against the spread. Dayton is just 3-5 ATS in its last eight. They are averaging 71.6 points per game on offense while allowing 70.7 per contest on defense. Darrell Davis is leading the Flyers with 17 points per game while Josh Cunningham is adding 15.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest.
The home team has won three straight meetings in this series and Dayton has covered in two straight against VCU. The Rams are just 2-6 against the spread in their last 8 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven on the road against a team with a winning home record. Dayton is 18-7-1 against the spread in its last 26 Friday games. I expect the Flyers to take care of business at home. The public betting is backing VCU, but I like the Flyers to cover tonight.
