STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -Travis Ford has a singular ambition as the new Oklahoma State basketball coach.
“My goals are to take this Oklahoma State basketball program to a national championship,” he said in a news conference Thursday.
Ford agreed Wednesday to leave his job at Massachusetts to take over Sean Sutton’s position at Oklahoma State.
He said the reasons for taking the job include the passion of Oklahoma State’s fans and the school’s strong home court advantage.
“I’m here to make it the best home court advantage in all of basketball,” he said.
Ford said he met with his new players and told them to expect to work hard.
“If you don’t like to work, you’re probably not going to like playing for me,” he said.
