C.C. Williams scored a career-high 20 points and Junior Hairston had 13 points and matched a career-best with 21 rebounds for the Tigers (2-5), who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Charron Fisher led the Purple Eagles (4-3) with 31 points and 12 rebounds, and Stanley Hodge added 13 points. Niagra, which fell to 0-3 on the road, shot 20-for-65 from the floor.
Reserve Jonathan Pease had 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals for Towson, which was 2-for-22 on 3-point attempts and 17-for-30 from the foul line.
Spruill missed a short jumpshot with 2.1 seconds to go in regulation. Hairston collected the rebound, but his successful attempt from 12 feet didn’t beat the buzzer, a decision was upheld on video review.
