GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -Connecticut center Hasheem Thabeet held a bandage to his right hand after the Huskies earned a Final Four berth with a 82-75 victory over Missouri on Saturday.
The 7-foot-3 center bloodied a finger in a scramble for a loose ball on the floor in the second half of the West Regional final.
“I’m getting it checked out, but I should be good,” Thabeet said.
The Big East co-player of the year finished with 13 rebounds but only five points and no blocks. With two fouls in the first 15 minutes, he was limited to eight first-half minutes. He picked up a third foul with 14:47 to play in the game but managed to avoid fouling the rest of the way.
“It was a great fight,” Thabeet said. “They said they were going to run us and we were there ready for the challenge.”
