JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -Muhammad El-Amin scored a game-high 27 points – including three 3-pointers – to lead Stony Brook to a 68-52 win over St. Peter’s on Sunday.
Bryan Dougher added 14 points and Tommy Brenton finished with 12 points and nine rebounds for the Seawolves (6-5), who made 48.9 percent of their shots. Wesley Jenkins had 20 points for the Peacocks (4-8), while Akeem Gooding added 13.
After St. Peter’s scored the game’s first basket, Stony Brook went ahead for good with a 7-0 run that included two baskets by El-Amin and a 3-pointer by Dougher. They then used a late 18-5 run to take a 41-23 at the break.
St. Peter’s then tried to rally in the second half, opening with a 6-1 run, but they would not get any closer as the Seawolves maintained double-digit leads for the entire second half.
