INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Brad Stevens isn’t leaving Butler any time soon.
The coach who took the Bulldogs to the national title game and fell one bounce short of winning the championship has signed a 12-year deal that would keep him at the school through at least 2021-22. The school did not say how much the deal was worth.
Last season, Stevens had a total compensation package of $750,000.
Stevens was not available for comment Thursday night, but the school has planned a Friday morning news conference.
The 33-year-old coach has quickly become a hot name on the coaching carousel after taking the Bulldogs to their first Final Four. There had been speculation that Oregon, Wake Forest or Clemson may offer multimillion deals to hire him.
