TRENTON, N.J (AP) -Nick Leon scored a driving layup with 4.5 seconds left to give St. Peter’s a 65-64 win over Rider Friday night. Leon finished with a game-high 24 points.
Rider’s Ryan Thompson had made two foul shots with 14.5 seconds left to give the Broncs a 64-63 lead. Thompson led Rider (14-10, 9-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) with 17 points. Harris Mansell added 16 for the Broncs.
St. Peter’s (8-17, 5-10 MAAC) led 53-43 with 9:20 to play before Rider went on a 12-2 run to tie the score at 55-55 with four minutes remaining. Justin Robinson scored six of his 10 points during the run.
St. Peter’s has now won three of its last five. The loss snapped a three-game Rider winning streak.
