OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -This isn’t the way Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich expected it to end.
The two Kansas stars made a pact to return this season for a chance at a second national championship together.
Instead, Collins, Aldrich and the rest of the Jayhawks saw their season come to an inglorious end at the hands of Northern Iowa on Saturday.
Though immensely talented, Kansas played inconsistently all season, often using big spurts to turn closer-than-expected games into routs.
The Jayhawks were able to overcome the tendency in the first round of the NCAA tournament against Lehigh, but not in the second against the Panthers.
Northern Iowa got off to a great start and made all the big plays down the stretch to knock off the NCAA’s top overall seed 69-67.
