Rush apologizes for missing court appearance

 

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) -Kansas star Brandon Rush apologized Friday, a day after his arrest for failing to appear in court on traffic charges.
Rush was released from jail Thursday after posting $500 bond.
He was to have been in court Nov. 28 on charges of speeding and driving with a suspended license Oct. 19. He also faces charges from a December 2006 case for driving on the wrong side of the road and having no proof of insurance.
“It was all my fault,” said Rush, who practiced with the team. “I wasn’t being responsible. Coach always says take care of our responsibilities. I just got confused on the dates and never showed up for my court date.”
Rush is the leading scorer the past two seasons for No. 3 Kansas. Coach Bill Self said Thursday that Rush would play Saturday when the Jayhawks (8-0) host DePaul. He had nine points and 10 rebounds in a 85-47 win over Eastern Washington on Wednesday night.
The 6-foot-6 guard has averaged 10.3 points in a reserve role as he continues to rebuild his knee. Surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament in June forced him to withdraw from last year’s NBA draft.
