INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Purdue center JaJuan Johnson has decided to return for his junior year after having a breakout season for the Boilermakers.
The All-Big Ten selection told The Associated Press about his decision in an e-mail Tuesday.
The 6-foot-10 sophomore says he’s not ready for the NBA, and he will focus on getting stronger and improving his shot.
Johnson averaged 13.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and just over two blocks per game this season to help the Boilermakers reach the NCAA regional semifinals.
As a freshman, Johnson started half the team’s games. He gained 10 pounds in the offseason, then asserted himself this season when Big Ten preseason player of the year Robbie Hummel injured his back.
