PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) – Former Princeton player Mitch Henderson has been hired as the Tigers’ new coach.
Henderson helped Princeton reach the NCAA tournament three times in the late 1990s. He replaces former teammate Sydney Johnson, who left the school for a job at Fairfield after leading the Tigers to a share of the Ivy League title and a berth in the tournament.
Athletic director Gary Walters announced the hiring Wednesday. The longtime Northwestern assistant coach will be introduced at a news conference Thursday.
Henderson was a four-year starter at Princeton and played in the NCAA tournament in each of his last three seasons, helping the Tigers post wins over UCLA in 1996 and UNLV in 1998.
