NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -Oklahoma sophomore forward Keith Clark will miss the rest of the season after becoming academically ineligible, coach Jeff Capel said Thursday.
Clark had played in the Sooners’ first 14 games before sitting out Monday’s victory over Mount St. Mary’s. He had been averaging 5.4 points, including a career-best 13 against Southern California earlier this season.
Capel said Clark would not enroll at Oklahoma for the spring semester.
“It’s a big loss for us,” Capel said. “Keith was playing very well. He’s one of our most talented players and he’s a good kid and a great teammate. We’re going to miss him. But my concerns about how this situation affects our team are far outweighed by my concerns about how it affects him personally.”
Clark missed the second half of his freshman season after injuring his knee.
The Sooners (12-3) will host Kansas State on Saturday in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams.
