COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) – Texas A&M is off to its best start in more than 90 years, a surprising surge for the 14th-ranked Aggies.
The Aggies are 14-1 and have an 11-game winning streak that matches the longest in Mark Turgeon’s coaching career.
Not bad for a team picked to finish sixth in the Big 12 Conference.
The Aggies opened Big 12 play with a win over Oklahoma and face Oklahoma State on Wednesday.
Turgeon says his team hasn’t “really started yet” and that people are waiting to see how the Aggies do in the conference.
Texas A&M reached its school-record fifth straight NCAA tournament last season, but there was expected to be a letdown after losing top scorers Donald Sloan and Bryan Davis. Instead, the Aggies are off to their best start since the 1919-20 team went 19-0.
