WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) -Mike Myers Keitt scored 15 points and Travis Taylor added 12 as Monmouth (N.J.) cruised to a 65-47 win over cold-shooting St. Peter’s on Friday night.
Alex Nunner had 10 points for the Hawks (2-11), who led for nearly the entire game.
St. Peter’s (3-7) jumped ahead 2-0 on a layup by Ismaila Traore in the game’s first minute, but Monmouth’s Yaniv Simpson answered with a 3-pointer, igniting a 7-0 run that gave the Hawks a lead they would never relinquish. Monmouth led by 14 at intermission and by many as 28 points in the second half.
Nick Leon led St. Peter’s with a game-high 16 points. He was the only St. Peter’s player in double figures as the Peacocks shot just 31 percent from the field.
