COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -Missouri coach Mike Anderson has decided to remain with the Tigers rather than pursue a job at Oregon that could have doubled his salary.
After two days of silence following an interview with Oregon in Texas, Anderson released a statement late Saturday night calling the West Coast overtures nothing more than a “quick conversation.”
Anderson just completed his fourth season at Missouri and has led the team to two consecutive NCAA tournaments after a five-year drought. He signed a seven-year, $10.85 million contract extension one year ago after leading the team to a record 31-win season that ended one game short of the Final Four.
Anderson returned from a charity golf tournament in El Paso, Texas, for his team’s end-of-season banquet Sunday afternoon.
