SEATTLE (AP) – Even with a senior as their leader and best player, the Washington Huskies look back on their top 15 ranking to begin the 2009-10 season and realize they were too young and immature to handle the early hype.
So how will it be when the same type of expectations fall on this version of the Huskies as they begin practice later this week as preseason Pac-10 favorites?
For starters, this is an experienced unit that returns nine players from last year’s squad that won the Pac-10 Conference tournament and reached the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament.
While do-everything forward Quincy Pondexter is gone, the Huskies return four of their top five scorers, including first-team all-Pac-10 guard Isaiah Thomas.
