TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -James Harden scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half as Arizona State defeated St. Francis (Pa.) 95-56 Saturday for its sixth straight win.
Harden, who has five 20-plus point performances in 12 games as a freshman, hit 3-of-4 from beyond the 3-point line in an 8-for-10 first half as the Sun Devils (10-2) built a 51-27 halftime lead.
The Sun Devils made a school-record 11-of-15 (73 percent) 3-pointers in their final non-conference game of the season.
Jeff Pendergraph and Ty Abbott each added 19 points for Arizona State, which is off to its second-best start in 13 seasons.
Bassirou Dieng led St. Francis (3-9) with a career-high 17 points and five rebounds before fouling out with 10:04 left.
Grant Surprenant added 15 points for the Red Flash, who have now lost three straight.
Arizona State made five of its first seven 3-point attempts over St. Francis’ zone defense and raced to a 23-4 lead in the first 6:35 of the game.
St. Francis missed 11 of its first 14 field goals, including 6-of-7 from beyond the arc.
