FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -George Mason senior guard John Vaughan, recovering from an elbow-to-the-head concussion that sent him to the hospital, will see a neurologist on Friday and will miss Saturday’s game against Virginia Commonwealth.
Vaughan was “alert, comfortable, well-oriented and very responsive” Thursday evening when examined by team physician Dr. Frank Pettrone, according to a statement released by the team. Pettrone said he was encouraged by Vaughan’s condition.
“John will follow a regular progression of rehabilitation over the next five to seven days,” Pettrone said. “He’ll be evaluated daily by the training staff and every two to three days by the medical staff.”

Vaughan is the Patriots’ co-leading scorer on the season, averaging 11.6 points. He was the leading scorer in Wednesday night’s game with 19 points.
