EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) – After sitting out a game for violating NCAA rules, Michigan State coach Tom Izzo is still having a hard time hiding his disappointment.
Izzo didn’t comment on the specifics of the case Monday, but did speak generally about his suspension. Izzo said it was “one of the worst and most embarrassing things” of his coaching career.
Izzo was suspended for a secondary violation. Michigan State officials said the school employed someone associated with a potential recruit during a basketball camp in June.
The Spartans beat Prairie View A&M 90-51 in Izzo’s absence Saturday night. No. 12 Michigan State hosts No. 18 Texas on Wednesday night.
