INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Butler fans couldn’t wait to have some fun.
Thousands of people crowded into downtown Indianapolis at midday Monday to rally for the hometown Bulldogs. Butler faces Duke in the NCAA men’s basketball championship Monday night.
A group of students danced excitedly to “Who Let the Dogs Out,” which blared from speakers following the spirited rally. Police estimated the crowd at about 5,000.
Among them were Mayor Greg Ballard and Butler athletic director Barry Collier. The two demonstrated a flying hip bump, which Butler’s young coach has turned into sort of a ritual when things go well.
Regardless of the game’s outcome, Butler students have something to celebrate: School president Bobby Fong announced at the rally that Tuesday classes are canceled.
