WASHINGTON (AP) -Longtime NBA forward Donyell Marshall is joining George Washington as an assistant coach.
The school announced Thursday that Marshall will replace Brian Ellerbe, who resigned to become an assistant coach at DePaul.
Marshall was the fourth pick in the 1994 draft by Minnesota and played for eight teams over 15 years before retiring in the summer of 2009.
The job reunites Marshall with GW coach Karl Hobbs, who was an assistant coach at the University of Connecticut when Marshall played with the Huskies in the early 1990s.
Hobbs says Marshall’s relationship with AAU programs and coaches will help in recruiting.
