LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) – Kansas is the co-favorite to win the Big 12 for the eighth straight season.
Not even coach Bill Self can believe it.
After the league’s coaches voted the Jayhawks to finish in a tie with Texas A&M atop the conference, Self wondered out loud whether they knew what they were doing. Kansas lost first-round draft picks Marcus and Markieff Morris along with several other key players. Three other players from their recruiting class were deemed ineligible by the NCAA.
The preseason plaudits are likely based on the Jayhawks’ success as a program. They’ve won the last seven conference titles.
