EL PASO, Texas (AP) -Texas-El Paso will host a second-round College Basketball Invitational game in El Paso instead of traveling to Boston as originally scheduled.
UTEP officials said the Miners will play Northeastern on Monday night at the Don Haskins Center. Both teams were surprise winners this week in the tournament’s first round.
The game was relocated after Northeastern, which draws about 2,000 fans a game, declined to host the game and UTEP agreed to pay the $60,000 host fee, said Brian Wickstrom, a UTEP spokesman. UTEP averages more than 7,000 fans.
