INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Butler center Matt Howard shows no lingering effects from his concussion, and team doctors will allow him to play in Monday night’s national title game.
Team spokesman Jim McGrath says Howard participated in the team’s early afternoon shootaround at Lucas Oil Stadium and was cleared by team doctors about 90 minutes after the workout. Howard is listed as probable and will play if he remains symptom-free.
The 6-foot-8 junior center took two blows to the head in Saturday’s 52-50 victory over Michigan State. Coach Brad Stevens insisted Sunday that Howard, the 2008-09 Horizon League player of the year, would not play if it there were any risk to Howard’s health.
He averages 11.6 points and 5.2 rebounds.
