FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) – Arkansas hopes to begin answering plenty of questions when it takes the court for its first preseason exhibition game against Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday night.
The Razorbacks were 18-13 last season, missing the NCAA tournament for the third straight season and leading to coach John Pelphrey’s firing in March.
Former Missouri coach Mike Anderson was hired to replace Pelphrey and inherits a team that is missing seven players from last season, three who transferred after Anderson was hired.
Forward Marshawn Powell is Arkansas’ only returning starter, though Anderson also is counting on a group of four highly touted freshmen to provide spark to the struggling program. Two of those freshmen, Devonta Abron and BJ Young, combined to score 43 points in a recent scrimmage.
