LAS VEGAS (AP) – After the best regular season in school history, Utah State appears to be ready for a walkover in this week’s Western Athletic Conference tournament.
The 23rd-ranked Aggies just aren’t looking at it that way.
Led by six seniors, Utah State (28-3, 15-1) set a school record for wins and won its fourth straight WAC regular-season title. But with an NCAA tournament berth not quite a sure thing and so many close games during the season, the Aggies are taking a businesslike approach on their trip to The Strip.
The tournament opens with two games at Orleans Arena on Wednesday. Utah State, along with second-place Boise State, gets a double bye into Friday’s semifinals.
