Rhode Island vs. VCU Prediction
Will No. 22 Rhode Island go on the road and pick up another win when it takes on VCU tonight at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Rhode Island is favored on the road, as the Rams are getting odds of -3.5 points against VCU. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 151.5 points. Tonight’s game takes place from Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond, Virginia and will air live on ESPN2.
Rhode Island keeps rolling along following an 85-83 win at UMass. The Rams are 18-3 overall, 10-0 in the Atlantic-10 Conference and 11-7-1 against the spread. URI is averaging 77 points per game on offense while allowing just 66.7 per contest. The Rams are led by Jared Terrell, who is averaging 18 points per game while E.C. Matthews is adding 13.7 points per contest.
VCU has won three straight coming into tonight’s game, including an 84-76 win at George Mason. The Rams are 14-8 on the season, 6-3 in the A-10 and 10-8 against the spread. Virginia Commonwealth is averaging 77.5 points per game on offense this season while allowing 74.6 per game. Justin Tillman is leading the Rams with 18.2 points and 9.7 rebounds per game while De’Riante Jenkins is adding 13.1 points per contest.
Rhode Island has won and covered in two straight meetings with VCU. These two have yet to meet this season. The spread is small here, but I think that works out well for Rhode Island. URI doesn’t change much from home and on the road so I think it will be able to combat the VCU defense. Offensively, Rhode Island is more consistent than VCU as well. Look for URI to grind out a hard-fought win by a couple of possessions. The public betting is backing Rhode Island as well.
